MEET THE PLAYERS | Some new, some old and some returning players sporting our brand new season 2017 alternate jerseys which will be on show tomorrow against Geelong Soccer Club.

Clockwise from left, including their last club we have:
– Josh Stadnicki (1874 Northwhich – UK)
– Chris Davies (Clifton Hill)
– Anthony Ragusa (Green Gully)
– Angel Taravillo (Westgate)
– Scott Dixon (Banyule)
– Tom Morrison (Murray United)

Also we re-introduce a crowd favorite returning from Bulleen, Micahel Disasi aka Yaya, and our new keeper from Werribee, Anthony Saric. Back for season 2017 is Douglas Lindberg (pictured).
Aleksandar Petrovski and Caner Ucarli are your captain and vice-captains respectively for season 2017.

We caught up with Aleksandar at the teams last training session before the season openenr and started of by asking him how he was feeling after being anniounced as Captain for season 2017 and whether he felt he had big shoes to fill?
AP: “Firstly, I would like to take this chance and thank Zelks and PLFC for giving me the opportunity to captain this great club.
Big shoes to fill? Well yes do I have big shoes to fill. I have been playing here my entire football career; I understand what it takes and what it means to play for such a club. I have seen and played under a few captains such as our Tony Sterjovski of recent years and I am ready to fill those shoes. Preston Lions is such a big club and has a rich history, captain or not we all have big shoes to fill week in week out.
My Thoughts on the upcoming season? Well no doubt it will be a long and tough season with all teams strengthening their squads to fight for that promotion spot. In saying that, we have had a solid pre-season under Zelks and with a few new additions to our current squad, we believe will help us in the fight for promotion.”
PLFC MEDIA also caught up with one of our new signings in Scott Dixon:
PLFC MEDIA: “Welcome to PLFC Scot, how have you settled in? Dual roll for season 2017, playing in the senior line up and TD?”
SD: “I’ve settled in really well as a player and the club’s TD. I think what really helps is how long the pre-seasons are in Australia so I’ve really gotten to know my team mates and head coach (Zelks) from a playing perspective but also the mini Roos, junior coaches and committee members from the TD side of things.
I’m relishing the 2017 season and can’t wait to get going. Obviously we’re looking to win the title this season and in order to do that you need a strong squad and we’ve certainly got that with 18 players who could all be starters for sure. Unfortunately football’s a game played with 11 but everyone knows that if they’re not performing another player is waiting in the wings. Competition has been great so far and long may it continue.
With regards to my other role as the clubs TD, I’m very passionate about the game and coaching. Preston have given me a fantastic opportunity and platform and I aim to help shape the club in to what it needs to be for when we reach the NPL.

Here’s to a fantastic and hopefully successful 70th season.
